Missing soundbox and cable, therefore untested, but in excellent cosmetic
order and is clearly getting power - I just can't start it. No resistor and
the backup battery will probably need replacing (showing 3.0v at present
without load).

Check my other items for Amstrad stuff and a Tandy WP that could be used
with the NeXT headless as a serial terminal.

Shipping to UK and Europe. No point shipping to the US as Black Hole do have
some cheap systems, and the shipping would cost more than one of their
computers regardless of the bid!

Just to follow this up - I checked some more pinouts, and found the safest
and easiest way to power up the NeXT would be to connect +3V (i.e, the
backup battery + end) to the thin brown 'power' wire on the PSU connector,
conveniently right beside it. Only a brief connection - just in case anyone
finds this on google and promptly shorts their connection out thinking
that's what you should do. Just touch the wire, and as soon as it touches
the machine will start.

So I did.

The machine is powering up - the red LED comes on, then goes out and stays
out (IIRC this flashes to indicate a fault - I had a dead NeXT which did
that), the HD spins up and seeks, but of course, without a soundbox/Y cable,
I can't connect a keyboard to set the PROM up for terminal operation. Doh!

So I can't tell if there is an OS which isn't loading because it is waiting
for input/looking for keyboard or sound which aren't present, or so other
reason, or there is no OS present. I can say that the PSU works, the HD
appears to at least be functional and not toast, and the RAM is alright
(since I've checked it in a Mac when wondering what size it was).

I have now cancelled this auction - I won a NeXT Cube on eBay without
keyboard or mouse but with monitor and cable. I've wanted a cube since,
well, they came out.

I have relisted the NeXTStation CPU only at £1, no reserve, though there is
a £60 buy it now. The PSU is good, I assume the motherboard is good, the HD
sounds healthy, there are no LED flashes to indicate RAM faults, the floppy
drive I can't test, and the casing is in really nice condition, all the feet
are in place, no scratches, still has the black screw at the back. Battery
is good too.

Apologies for those who wanted it before I cancelled it, I would normally
let it run but the idea that I could have a NeXT Cube system, and have the
missing parts right here... It's just not worth selling them to have to buy
them again.

The new listing is linked from the old one at the 'relisted' option at the
top of the page, or viewable in "seller's other items".
